Our Little Conscious Consumer

Standard

We have entered one of the photos of Zaedyn, our little conscious consumer, drinking his Rock Star storybook tea from Wildflower Botanicals in the Conscious Consumer Photo Competition. We would love your support just by tweeting, liking, voting, or sharing our photo :)

Eco friendly competition
Conscious Consumers is currently running a photo competition to bring their badges to life. If you do not already know about them, they accredit businesses and help you find and discover ways to be socially responsible and environmentally friendly. You can even earn free stuff by supporting businesses through the website or smartphone app.

The current badges fall under Community, Smart Waste, and Ethical Products which include: Local, Food rescue, BYO containers, Recycling, Eco-packaging, Composting, Eco-cleaners, Free range, Fair trade, Sustainable fish, Vege/Vegan, and Organic. I look forward to watching the expansion across New Zealand where you will be able to find accredited business wherever you go. Although I do not have a flash phone, anyone with smartphones can quickly find certain badges within regions throughout New Zealand.

Zaedyn is drinking Wildflower Botanicals tea which is organic and local from Kaikoura. He was also eating lovingearth raw vegan chocolate. The bag the tea comes in is also recyclable so this photo incorporates many Conscious Consumer badges. Thanks heaps for supporting our lil conscious consumer! We joined a bit late so have been trying to work our way up, but there are still 14 days to go if you wish to enter as well.

Organic Tea

“Wildflower Botanicals is a boutique herbal business specialising in organic, fairtrade, and earth-friendly products.”

Wildflower Botanicals stocks a huge range of amazing teas down in Kaikoura. Even if you are not a huge tea drinker, I am sure that you will find something you might like. The blends are organic, and you can choose to drink them hot or cold whether you feel like a black tea, green tea, white tea, red tea, oolong, pu-erh, botanical, elemental chai, herbal, storybook, pregnancy, or seasonal blend. I can definitely say that I have been to the website many times to order, but simply could not narrow down what I wanted. They all sound so yummy.

As part of our giveaway, Meg has kindly offered a storybook selection pack to one of our readers. I love the idea of a tea being made for children of all ages. Yes, even you young-at-heart adults.

“Our storybook blends are made using organic botanical ingredients – fruits, flowers, leaves, seeds, bark, and roots – so they are naturally tannin and caffeine-free.” ~Wildflower Botanicals

Which blend would you choose?

I was really curious to see what Zaedyn might think of the teas. He mostly drinks water, almond milk or breastmilk, smoothies, and coconut water so I knew that this would be something quite different for him. I loved watching his facial expressions as he tried the tea and turned into a Rock Star.

Wildflower Botanicals
vegan chocolateI am pretty sure that he thought it was quite exciting to be having a real tea party. If you have been following along on Facebook, we had also received a lovely order of raw vegan chocolates from David’s family. Zaedyn really does have a very good memory and knew that it would not be a complete tea party without some chocolate. We love lovingearth products which you can purchase from Wildflower Botanicals as well. They are so yummy and well worth it. I love dark chocolate, and I have always enjoyed the combination of chocolate and mint. I was a bit hesitant about the orange & gubinge, but I have to say that I really like it. It isn’t a flavour that I would choose, but I am so glad that I have now. Apparently it is quite hard to keep stocked!

I cannot tell you which blend I like the best. I thought that it would be great to try each and see what we thought, but I can honestly say that they are all amazing. I love the different flavour combinations of each. It really is a lot of fun drinking a tea and thinking about an enchanted garden, Snow White, sweet dreams, rock star, Red Riding Hood, Gingerbread cottage, and Little Boy Blue. Many children seem to love tea parties, and this is an awesome way to have some fun and use your imagination alongside them as well as on your own. I know that I will be drinking them even when Zaedyn isn’t!

Lastly, just wanted to let you know about the Fe Blend (pregnancy) we ordered to help increase my iron storage and absorption of iron. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, just make sure to mention so that certain herbs can be left out. 1 tsp of Fe Blend per cup four times a day should be effective. As all the other teas, it is lovely. If you are interested in trying it out, enter the code AROHANUI at checkout for a 15% discount.
