Organic Tea

“Wildflower Botanicals is a boutique herbal business specialising in organic, fairtrade, and earth-friendly products.”

Wildflower Botanicals stocks a huge range of amazing teas down in Kaikoura. Even if you are not a huge tea drinker, I am sure that you will find something you might like. The blends are organic, and you can choose to drink them hot or cold whether you feel like a black tea, green tea, white tea, red tea, oolong, pu-erh, botanical, elemental chai, herbal, storybook, pregnancy, or seasonal blend. I can definitely say that I have been to the website many times to order, but simply could not narrow down what I wanted. They all sound so yummy.

As part of our giveaway, Meg has kindly offered a storybook selection pack to one of our readers. I love the idea of a tea being made for children of all ages. Yes, even you young-at-heart adults.

“Our storybook blends are made using organic botanical ingredients – fruits, flowers, leaves, seeds, bark, and roots – so they are naturally tannin and caffeine-free.” ~Wildflower Botanicals

Which blend would you choose?

I was really curious to see what Zaedyn might think of the teas. He mostly drinks water, almond milk or breastmilk, smoothies, and coconut water so I knew that this would be something quite different for him. I loved watching his facial expressions as he tried the tea and turned into a Rock Star.

vegan chocolateI am pretty sure that he thought it was quite exciting to be having a real tea party. If you have been following along on Facebook, we had also received a lovely order of raw vegan chocolates from David’s family. Zaedyn really does have a very good memory and knew that it would not be a complete tea party without some chocolate. We love lovingearth products which you can purchase from Wildflower Botanicals as well. They are so yummy and well worth it. I love dark chocolate, and I have always enjoyed the combination of chocolate and mint. I was a bit hesitant about the orange & gubinge, but I have to say that I really like it. It isn’t a flavour that I would choose, but I am so glad that I have now. Apparently it is quite hard to keep stocked!

I cannot tell you which blend I like the best. I thought that it would be great to try each and see what we thought, but I can honestly say that they are all amazing. I love the different flavour combinations of each. It really is a lot of fun drinking a tea and thinking about an enchanted garden, Snow White, sweet dreams, rock star, Red Riding Hood, Gingerbread cottage, and Little Boy Blue. Many children seem to love tea parties, and this is an awesome way to have some fun and use your imagination alongside them as well as on your own. I know that I will be drinking them even when Zaedyn isn’t!

Lastly, just wanted to let you know about the Fe Blend (pregnancy) we ordered to help increase my iron storage and absorption of iron. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, just make sure to mention so that certain herbs can be left out. 1 tsp of Fe Blend per cup four times a day should be effective. As all the other teas, it is lovely. If you are interested in trying it out, enter the code AROHANUI at checkout for a 15% discount.

Smoothie a Day #5 ~ Orange

ORANGE SMOOTHIE

~Juice of two oranges

~1/2 paw paw

~2 bananas

~1/2 cup almond milk

~handful of ice

Blend & drink

I was so excited when David came home with a paw paw yesterday. I knew that I was going to use oranges in my smoothie today, but paw paw was a great addition to make today’s smoothie recipe. I had no plan for what was going into this smoothie, and it blended together to make a delicious drink. This made enough for both Zaedyn and I. He is loving smoothies a day so much that I have to make sure I make enough, or I won’t get any!

Still with another half, I have not yet decided whether I will be eating the rest of the paw paw or adding it to tomorrow’s smoothie. Paw paw reminds me of Rarotonga as their was endless amounts of paw paw, coconut, and fresh fruit that I looked forward to every morning. Can’t wait to go back again one day!

Tomorrow’s smoothie ingredient is nut milk. I better go and soak some nuts. Check out a previous post on Fresh Raw Almond Milk, and you can follow the recipe with another type of nut to make a dairy-free milk. Hope you will join in on our Smoothie a Day ~ November. Feel free to share a photo of your smoothie on Facebook.

Smoothie a Day ~ November

November

Smoothies are full of goodness! They are packed with lots of nutrients. Fruit, Veggies, and superfoods: there are endless ways to make a different smoothie every day. This actually made it extremely hard in choosing only 30 ideas, but I tried to choose a variety as well as a few that I know will be a bit more challenging. I also tried not to use too many ingredients that not everyone stocks in their pantry, but with only one ingredient listed you can feel free to get creative. I am going to be creating smoothies that I have never made before, and I look forward to seeing everyone else’s creativity.

If you are following us on Pinterest, there is a new Smoothies board which I will be adding lots of pins to as I come across them. I will post this photo so that you can re-pin. Please like and share this photo on Facebook as well so that as many people as possible can be involved in creating and drinking smoothies this month. Each day we welcome any way you wish to contribute whether it is a photo, recipe, or your thoughts. If you post a photo on our wall, you can re-share on your own. Thanks for all of your support, and I look forward to all of the smoothie bliss in November.
