Arohanui Vegan Love is about having compassion and love as a vegan in all aspects of life. Through curiosity from others, I am creating this blog and ebooks as a foundation of information and inspiration for others. Giving up gluten, my vegan journey began through health and has continued to be an ongoing passion for health, animals, and Earth. Having personal experience with two vegan pregnancies, natural childbirth, breastfeeding, and raising a vegan baby, I believe that my stories can provide support for others.
As an early childhood educator and Mum, I believe in holistic development where learning through play and providing children with opportunities to explore through nature is key. I believe that the natural environment offers tamariki opportunities to learn to care for our world and develop an appreciation for the existence and beauty Aotearoa has to offer.
My son, daughter, and I live a vegan lifestyle in New Zealand and California. We are multicultural. Although we are not Māori, we encompass the culture and Te Reo Māori as a living language and a part of our lives.
Surf, love, life. There is nothing like the feeling of paddling out and riding waves. I believe in protecting the ocean and being at one with nature. Born and raised in California before moving to New Zealand, the Pacific Ocean now connects me to my whānau overseas. I have had the opportunity to explore the beaches and culture in California, Costa Rica, New Zealand, and Rarotonga.
Professional Qualifications
I graduated from Chapman University, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising in 2008. Besides developing a passion for photography, I completed an Eastern Concepts of Health and Healing course which sparked my interest in natural health and an Anthropology course to support my interest in culture. After becoming an educator at an Early Childcare Centre, I completed further study at Waikato University for my Graduate Diploma Teaching Early Childhood in 2010. Concurrently, I completed my Te Ara Reo Māori Level 2 from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa to support my early childhood studies, knowledge and use as an educator within my centre, and to provide our baby with multilingual opportunities. Still yet to complete, I am studying an Introductory Course in Homeopathy as well as Childhood Diseases and their Homeopathic Treatment through Bay of Plenty College of Homeopathy. All of my studies and journey along the way have interlinked to bring me where I am today…
