ExtraFresh
We have only recently come across ExtraFresh, but we love the idea. We were given a single pack to try which was delivered to us with a range of other goodies from EcoDeals.

“Designed and made in NZ, especially for domestic fridges, ExtraFresh keeps fruit and vegetables fresher for longer, decreasing spoilage and ensuring that you enjoy the best possible eating experience.” ~ExtraFresh

To read more about how these packs work, check out the info section on their website. In short, these packs help reduce ethylene which you trap by putting all of your fruits and vegetables into a drawer. Without these packs, ripening occurs much more quickly which can lead to more wasted food.

I know that I do not like wasting food, and although we do compost what we do not eat, I do not like the idea of wasted money and food. Whether you put a lot of time and effort into growing your own fruit and vegetables or consider the environmental impact and labour from food production to supply in your local supermarket, there should be no desire to waste food and a lot more concern with the amount that ends up in landfill. The amount of wasted food is ridiculous in my opinion, and I am all for a product that can help preserve produce to stay fresher for longer. If you are buying produce from the supermarket, these will also allow you to buy a variety of produce without worrying about it not lasting. This will be better for a healthier lifestyle or save extra trips to the store which will save you time and money as well as saving you from contributing to the environmental impact due to more travel.

For those with one vegetable drawer, the ExtraFresh 6 pack carton will give you freshness for the entire year, or 6 months for a two drawer fridge.

Another way to involve the community in supporting sustainability is to fundraise with ExtraFresh. Whether schools or sport clubs want to be involved, this is a great way to involve the younger generation in protecting our environment and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Although ExtraFresh is quite new to us, I absolutely love the concept and the positive impact within the environment, our health, and the community.

Is there an ExtraFresh pack in your fridge?

Enter for your chance to have fresher produce all year long.
