Beanfields Chips: Yes, they are Vegan!

vegan chips

Farmed and made in the USA, these chips were made free of the 8 most common food allergens! These bags were lovingly made by a family owned company and kindly sent to me to review. I am beyond grateful for this amazing delivery, and I am so excited to share these with you as they are delicious. With so many flavours available, I am sure you will love them just as much as we do.

I was so excited to try all of them that it was such a hard decision which one to try first. I was quite curious about Pico De Gallo. Yum! I was already hooked as soon as I started eating them. Zaedyn instantly loved them as well. Having the option of full size and snack size is great. For one, the snack size stops you from sitting and eating the entire full size bag by yourself (I may have done this. They really are that delicious). Also, Zaedyn loved being able to choose a snack size bag to bring with him wherever we would go. Here he is, just out of the car and in the pram to go to Disneyland, already pouring his chips out to snack on. Who says Beanfields chips cannot be eaten early in the morning? :)

Two thumbs up from Zaedyn!

Vegan chips

They also make the perfect poolside snack. We loved sharing these while enjoying the beautiful summer day. We even spent a beautiful evening on the water in a Duffy Boat enjoying Beansfields Chips. My Aunt bought a bunch of snacks at Sprouts, and I was so excited that she had bought Beanfields Chips to share.

Vegan Chips

They really are “The vegan answer to Doritos” as VegNews put it. If you love Cooler Ranch Doritos, Beanfields Ranch flavour is your perfect healthy alternative. Maybe because it reminds me of my childhood and the occasional times I ate those chips, but I think that the Ranch might be my favourite. It wasn’t one that I thought I would like as much, but yum! You will find it hard to resist eating the entire bag. Salt n’ Pepper is quite unique as well, and I really enjoyed these, too. Depending on your mood, there is always a time to enjoy all of them. They are beyond delicious.

Twice as much protein and fiber and 29%-37% less fat compared to other tortilla chips, vegan, gluten-free, corn free, non GMO project verified, and no fillers! Rice and beans might sound a bit unusual for a base of a chip, but I will assure you that Beanfields was pretty clever in creating these award winning chips. I do not usually eat a lot of chips apart from tortilla chips to scoop lots of salsa and guacamole, but I think that has all changed. I am already disappointed knowing that my box is now empty. Lucky I have been spotting them at Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Fresh & Easy. The snack size bags retail $1.19-$1.49 while the full size is $2.99-$3.99

Don’t forget to go and try some. You really will be amazed. I may just have to refill my box.

Healthy, local, full of protein, and most importantly ~ VEGAN!

Which flavour do you want to try?

**Thanks so much to Beansfields Snacks. This is entirely my own opinion, and I cannot speak highly enough about Beansfields. If it weren’t for their email, I possibly would have never tried these or been able to share with you my new discovery. Enjoy!

SLOW Food For Fast Lives

vegan bar

Always on the go? Looking for a nutritious bar that will leave you feeling full and healthy? SLOW food for fast lives is a new alternative to traditional vegan food bars!

Savory, not sweet, this new ethnic twist on bars was created in globally inspired flavours: Moroccan, Thai, Indian, and California. They are non-GMO, gluten free, dairy free, kosher, low glycemic, and all natural with no added sugars, fats, or preservatives.

vegan bar

I love hearing about new vegan products on the market so I was really excited when I was contacted to try out these new bars. They are so unique compared to anything currently on the market. Which flavour would you try?

vegan bar

They are all vegan except for California which contains honey. It sounds delicious though so I definitely hope that SLOW will consider replacing they honey with a vegan alternative. Since it arrived in my package, I chose to get some feedback on it anyways rather than let it go to waste. My sister was very impressed with it, and it was a bar that she would definitely eat again.

I was then left with three flavours to try, and I cannot tell you which one I like the best because they are all so unique. It all depends on preference and mood.

Initially, I wasn’t quite sure what to think. They seem a little unusual after the first bite, but make sure you give them a chance. I am certain that you will realize that they each savory bar is delicious in their unique way. Often other bars are filled with chocolate or are very sweet. SLOW bars contain so many distinct flavours. If you are in the mood for spicy, definitely go for the Thai. The Moroccan tasted the sweetest out of the three bars. With 1-2 servings of vegetables per bar along with nuts, grains, and seeds, they are a perfect go to bar to always have around. These bars contain natural ingredients rather than lots of sugar! I can’t wait to try out the new flavours in the future.

SLOW food for fast lives seems like an overall awesome company producing natural and unique vegan bars, making it possible to maintain busy, but healthy lifestyles. I can’t wait to follow along and watch the growth of SLOW.

Go check out SLOW food for fast lives on Facebook and their website for more information. I went to Sprouts yesterday and spotted them on the top shelf down the bar aisle. Check out your local Sprouts, Lassens, New Leaf, or online to purchase.

“…if on-the-go is where we find ourselves, we believe slow food for fast lives will keep us going.”

Eat global + stay local = SLOW

*Thank you to SLOW for letting me try out their new globally-inspired bars to share with you!

Cooking with free energy from the sun means money saved and more time to play instead of standing in the kitchen. Plus, it supports our eco-friendly lifestyle in so many ways! This makes us another step closer toward being sustainable. Have you heard of SUNFLAIR or solar ovens? I have dreamed of building a solar oven and using a dehydrator for so many years. Now, we are beyond excited to be cooking with our new portable solar oven.

dehydratorZaedyn searched for the perfect spot to set up our oven.

dehydratorHe helped set up one rack with two collapsible pots & the thermometer.

dehydratorAfter waiting patiently, Zaedyn was right into eating his rice & veggies.

The Result?

Two thumbs up from Zaedyn!

We have yet to decide what solar food we will make next, but it was awesome to start with something simple. Zaedyn loves rice and veggies anyways, but rice and veggies become so exciting when it becomes solar food. With a sunny day, our solar oven heated up fast. Rice is cooked similar to how you would cook it on a stove. After letting some water heat up, rice is gently stirred in and left for only 20-40 minutes. Amazing! I can definitely say that this was the first time I have ever mowed the lawn and cooked rice at the same time. No need to worry about it burning!

This also acts as a dehydrator so I am thinking kale chips would be a good option to make. I would love to start eating more raw foods again and am keen to experiment with some raw sun burgers and raw breads. Endless possibilities! Did you know that you can even use it to bake a cake or cookies? What would you make in a solar oven?

Are you wondering how it works? UV Rays are trapped inside the oven, and SUNFLAIR has reflective material with an insulated layer to keep the heat inside and directed at the special pots, making yummy solar food thanks to the sun.

I am so excited that Zaedyn gets to be involved and be a part of new ways toward being eco-friendly. The pots do get really hot to touch, but Zaedyn loved finding our special place to cook and watching while he waited for our food to be done. This also gives us another chance to talk about solar power and other ways that we can use it.

SUNFLAIR Solar Ovens are currently on sale over at EcoDeals! There are two versions: standard and deluxe. The deluxe oven has an extra rack and tray as well as a large cooking pot. Besides the pots and racks, both sets come with the oven, a carry bag, thermometer, and a water pasteurisation indicator. If you are in New Zealand, be sure to subscribe to EcoDeals. They have amazing offers, and it is great to see what eco-friendly products are available through their deals and shop.

If you miss the deal, SUNFLAIR Solar ovens can be purchased from eBright Energy NZ or their retailers in New Zealand, eBright Energy AU or their retailers in Australia, or SUNFLAIR in North America. Check out all of the sites for their recipe section!

Our Little Conscious Consumer

We have entered one of the photos of Zaedyn, our little conscious consumer, drinking his Rock Star storybook tea from Wildflower Botanicals in the Conscious Consumer Photo Competition. We would love your support just by tweeting, liking, voting, or sharing our photo :)

Eco friendly competition
Conscious Consumers is currently running a photo competition to bring their badges to life. If you do not already know about them, they accredit businesses and help you find and discover ways to be socially responsible and environmentally friendly. You can even earn free stuff by supporting businesses through the website or smartphone app.

The current badges fall under Community, Smart Waste, and Ethical Products which include: Local, Food rescue, BYO containers, Recycling, Eco-packaging, Composting, Eco-cleaners, Free range, Fair trade, Sustainable fish, Vege/Vegan, and Organic. I look forward to watching the expansion across New Zealand where you will be able to find accredited business wherever you go. Although I do not have a flash phone, anyone with smartphones can quickly find certain badges within regions throughout New Zealand.

Zaedyn is drinking Wildflower Botanicals tea which is organic and local from Kaikoura. He was also eating lovingearth raw vegan chocolate. The bag the tea comes in is also recyclable so this photo incorporates many Conscious Consumer badges. Thanks heaps for supporting our lil conscious consumer! We joined a bit late so have been trying to work our way up, but there are still 14 days to go if you wish to enter as well.
